State of the Youth: Analyzing the 50th Harvard Youth Poll

View the full article collection here.

The Harvard Political Review (HPR) is excited to introduce our collaboration with the Harvard Public Opinion Project (HPOP) to amplify the voices of young Americans through the 50th edition of the biannual Harvard Youth Poll. While the results of the semesterly HPOP poll have traditionally been unveiled through their own comprehensive report, HPOP has graciously offered the HPR early access to the data. Through this collaborative effort, writers from the HPR have joined with the HPOP team to produce seven articles interpreting the poll’s findings and contextualizing them within our political zeitgeist. This project aims to provide an authentic perspective by bringing together young pollsters and journalists to report on issues directly affecting their peers.

These seven articles not only cover quantitative analysis but also seek to tell the story behind the data. Students involved in HPOP dedicate countless hours to designing questions that will resonate with their generation. By combining rigorous research with the storytelling and analysis of writers at the HPR, we hope this collaboration will educate the world today and inspire future generations to work with their peers in the truest form of self-advocacy. Together, we believe this partnership demonstrates the power of youth-led scholarship in shaping a more representative and responsive democracy.

Lastly, we would like to thank the following members of the HPOP team for assisting us with data collection and analysis: Jordan Schwartz, Sophia Robertson, Carter Umphress, Ella Ricketts, Aditi Ambravan, and Avery Kim.
