Harvard’s music department is an excellent resource for students interested in jazz, classical, and even electro-acoustical music. In addition, well-established a cappella groups and choirs provide ample opportunities for vocalists, but there is very little institutional support for musicians interested in pursuing less-traditional genres.
Harvard has the opportunity to continue to push the frontier of financial aid across American higher education by reducing or removing the work contribution.
While Harvard-supported programs allow students to think about social injustices, student-initiated advocacy demands a critical self-reflection—a practice that, in the context of Harvard, can explain the small scale of campus activism.
