Currier is the best House to be sorted into — it exemplifies a true Harvard experience. Currier has the best dining hall, the best dorm life, and the best House life. Marked by a close-knit community, Currier personifies the idea that a Harvard House is a home better than home.
If you walk down the main stairs of Currier, you’re face to face with the famed dining hall. There are no winding paths or cramped hallways, unlike other Houses. You’re greeted by the amazing dining hall miracle workers. It’s a universal truth that Currier has the best food, and the d-hall staff are the secret (in that they make the food, not that they are the food). Not only do they work hard to fulfill our needs — known or unknown — but their friendliness leads to close relationships to other Currierites. In addition, there’s always plenty of room to grab a meal with friends and engage in questionable food experiments. I’ve learned, turns out, that ranch does not dissolve in coffee!
What can be better than single rooms? In Currier, not only do you get singles as a sophomore, you get incredibly spacious rooms, too. No slanted walls, no tourists, no rats or cockroaches. Elevators everywhere — no need to swipe. There are kitchens on every floor of every tower, complete with TVs and couches.
Currier has the best events, hands down. Before I came to Currier, I did not know how to ski. I still don’t know how to ski, but at least I’ve been skiing. I’ve also visited Salem during Halloween, seen a ballet performance or two, seen a few theater performances, and more. There’s no doubt that Currier resident tutors have the best study breaks. Furthermore, there’s always one event or another happening at the Fishbowl; it’s always fun to steal the copious amounts of snacks while watching the last half of an engrossing movie after office hours.
Last and best is Currier’s community life. The people in Currier are generous, gifted, kind to a fault, and great to talk to. Sometimes you’ll play Catan with your friends and your tutor; sometimes, you’re talking to virtual strangers about the political ramifications of snake hunting, all at 2 AM in the morning. You can connect with the Currier faculty deans as easily as with your friends. You can plan a revolution — a Segway revolution. Moreover, Currierites are always willing to lend a helping hand, from supporting people through a crisis to finding koala hats. The spontaneity of great friendships — between students, staff, faculty, between Currierites — is what makes Currier Currier.
